From: Trenque Lauquen, Argentina. Trenque Lauquen is located in the Buenos Aires province about as far west as you can go before reaching the province of La Pampa, Argentina.

About: My father is a vet and he was introduced to polo through his work. Ultimately he became the president of the Trenque Lauquen Polo Club and a breeder of polo horses, many of whom are played by my brother and me. My Father bought an old polo facility from the Barrantes family where he now lives with my mother and where we as a family gather for afternoon polo matches and asados. I started riding horses when I was 4 years old. If I got into trouble at school or did not complete my homework my punishment would be to work the more difficult horses. Many days I would have to ride plenty of grumpy horses. My father is an excellent rider and made sure that we learned how to be solid riders as well. I played in many tournaments as a child but my most memorable one was The Copa Potrillos. My team was my brother, 2 friends and me. My favorite horse was a tiny pony who I rode for many years until my feet could touch the ground on either side of her. She was very handy and could almost run underneath some of the larger ponies. Her name was Sebita (Stun as in stun gun).

My first time away from home my parents sent me to Aiken to work with my Uncle Gabriel Crespo. I worked very long hours with him and learned a lot. I spent seasons with him in Wellington, Florida; Lexington, Kentucky; and it was Gabriel who first brought me to Jackson Hole with him in 2006. I have been hired to play in Italy, Pakistan, Ghana, Malaysia, Argentina, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Switzerland. I came back to the USA to play in the winter season of Indio 2016/7 and summer in Santa Barbara (2017). I have played there on and off in Indio for 5 years and now travel with my own string of horses (in Europe a string is usually provided to the pros so this is a nice change to care for and train my own horse). In the 2019/20 winter season I worked as a piloto for Nachi DuPlessis (9 goals and last winner of the Palermo open) who was playing on the La Dolfina II team during the Argentina triple crown season and I loved being further behind the scenes especially at Palermo. His horses were incredible and I loved working with them every day. Nachi was at that time stabled at Ellerstina and sometimes I would be sent in his place to work the horses in the practice games. One morning Nachi called me to go to a practice in Cañuelas. I arrived, was handed a jersey, and rode out on the field. It turns out our La Dolfina II practice was against La Dolfina. There I was playing a practice on a team with Adolfo Cambiaso(10) Diego Cavanagh(9) Guillermo Terrera and me in the rain against Pelon Stirling(10) and his brother Santi (4), Pablo McDonough(10) and Jejo Taranco(8). What a memorable day that was for me! After working for Nachi I spent some time in Uruguay and was invited to play in the Uruguay Open (18 goals)

The horses in my string in the USA are mostly a combination of horses from our family ranch in Trenque Lauquen and horses I have purchased from the racetrack in Pensilvania and Kentucky. Last year I bred my best mare with a stallion called Dofina Popular from Cambiaso’s breeding currently playing 20 goal in Wellington and now I have a filly weanling to care for. I am looking forward to working to make her a spectacular polo pony. When I am not playing polo I enjoy playing my guitar and listening to Argentine Folk music. I've recently taken up golf and really enjoy it. When I am not working as a polo pro I am back in Argentina helping my father and brother with our cattle ranch in La Pampa. My sister is an Architect and helped me to build a small house in Trenque Lauquen near my family. I visit as often as I can and I really enjoy playing polo with my nieces and nephews when I visit my family. I have 5 nieces and nephews ranging in age from newborn to 16 years old. My parents visited JHPC last summer and loved Wyoming and the National Parks. My brother Gonzalo played one summer as a pro at JHPC and loved it as well. I speak Spanish, Italian, and English fluently. If I was not a polo player I would probably be a chef. My favorite time of the day is early morning checking on the horses.
